The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania seeks an experienced, innovative and solution-focused Senior Director of Major and Planned Gifts (herein Senior Director) to provide strategic direction, inspirational leadership and oversight of a comprehensive major gifts program of fundraising and alumni activities designed to increase maximum gift support for the Wharton School.
Reporting to the Director of Development and Alumni Communications, the Senior Associate Director of Development Communications provides persuasive writing in support of fundraising for Wharton External Affairs. This work includes: school-level cases for support; tailored and personalized proposals to individuals, foundations and corporations; and other development tools needed for cultivation and solicitation. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in development/grant writing as well as experience in creating fundraising campaign messages.
The Director of Development and Alumni Communications oversees and directs the day-to-day marketing and communications to Wharton alumni and donors, a key function within Wharton External Affairs. The department serves the Wharton alumni population through thought-leadership programming, signature events, and regular communications, as well as overseeing the School’s philanthropic program. The Director will plan, execute and evaluate comprehensive programs that reinforces the mission of Wharton, emphasizing alumni engagement and philanthropy as part of the office of External Affairs.
Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Communications in Wharton External Affairs, this position will undertake a wide range of writing for strategic marketing and communications to support alumni engagement and fundraising. This includes event marketing outreach, newsletters, brand content, marketing and cultivation materials to support fundraising, annual fund solicitations, and other projects and deliverables as needed. The marketing writer will respond quickly to project requests and deliver high-quality writing on tight deadlines while managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
The Director of Regional Development leads the East Coast regional team in their fundraising and engagement strategies and manages the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for assigned prospects with the giving ability of $250,000 and above in New York metro region. The Director of Regional Development reports to the Senior Director of Major and Planned Gifts.
As part of a team of experienced fundraisers, the Major Gifts Officer reports to the Director of Regional Development, and manages the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for assigned prospects with the giving ability of $100,000 and above in a given geographical region. Incumbent is responsible for designing, planning and implementing a major gifts plan that proactively extends the reach of Wharton domestically to expand Wharton’s prospect base and build the donor pipeline.
